'On March 11th 1857 the foundation stone of the original synagogue of this congregation was laid at Park Place Cheetham by Horatio L. Michollis the president and consecrated by the Rev Dr Schiller-Szinessy. The congregation worshipped there until the building was destroyed by enemy action on June 1st 1941'
